The PaintBox

As featured in Australian Country Style Magazine, The PaintBox is the creative hub of the Adelaide Hills. One of Australia's oldest shops, operating since 1838, The PaintBox sells art supplies from all over the world and has expanded to include an art gallery, art studios, an events space, bar and cafe. There are Art & Wellness Workshops in addition to classes for oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolour painting and calligraphy and drawing supplies as well as school holiday workshops. The shop retains its original rambling gardens which offer a beautiful venue for plein air painting Glancing through through the Georgian windows at The PaintBox, you'll see antique French apothecary cupboards stocked with tempting tubes of bright oil and acrylic paints; boxes of artists paint brushes, shelves of soft pastels and packages of rare pigments, gums and resins used in museum restoration. The friendly staff at The PaintBox are accustomed to helping out beginners kit out their studios and visitors to The Heysen Centre and The Hahndorf Academy are eligible for the PaintBox VIP programme of art supplies discounts and rewards.
